Elite Horse Clothing was founded by Brenda Keiner. Brenda has two horses, Grady and Jane. Brenda was looking for a way to protect Jane's belly from the gnats that live in the pasture without using fly spray, as Jane is sensitive to the spray. Jane started breaking out in Sweet Itch - horrible, itchy hives - and she was rubbing out her mane and tail. The drugs and creams that the vet prescribed did lessen the symptoms, but Jane's belly kept getting bitten. Her skin would not start to clear up until well into the winter season. Brenda decided she would try making a fly sheet to cover Jane’s belly. She experimented with several designs, testing them on Jane, who patiently accommodated all the fittings. The end result is the original Belly Dickie. Jane loves hers!
